American blues guitarist and pianist, born October 7, 1939, in Jackson, Miss., USA., died March 20, 2009 in Kitchener, Ont., Canada.

Mel Brown had a very own style of playing guitar. In the 1960s his style was more jazzy, so he was one of few blues artists to sign with the jazz label Impulse!.
He played with Jimmy Witherspoon, T-Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, to name a few.
In the 70s and 80s he played for 11 years in Bobby "Blue" Bland's Orchestra. In the following period he was around Antone's Records.

In 1989 he moved to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to lead the house band for blues club, Pop The Gator.
