The original line up of the group had Paul Heaton, Stan Cullimore, Ted Key & Hugh Whitaker. Ted Key was replaced by Norman Cook after the band's first single. Hugh Whitaker was replaced by the ex-Velvetones drummer David Hemingway in 1987.

Norman Cook and Paul Heaton went on to form Beats International and The Beautiful South respectively, after the demise of the group.
