GRAMMY Award winner vibraphonist, composer, arranger and producer, Simon Moullier has distinguished himself as one of the leading voices of his generation.
After studying classical percussion in France, he quickly became recognized for his entirely new approach and sound on the instrument. Moullier went on to complete an undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music where he studied with trumpeter Darren Barrett, followed by a Master’s degree from the Thelonious Monk Institute where he was mentored by Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, & Jimmy Heath among others.
He has since shared the stage with such jazz luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Buster Williams, Gerald Clayton, Terri-Lyne Carrington, Mark Turner and is featured on recordings with Kendrick Scott, Miguel Zenon.
In fall 2020, Simon Moullier released his debut album “Spirit Song” (Outside in Music). He followed up less than a year later, in June 2021, with his standards trio album “Countdown” (Fresh Sound Records), for which he was nominated “Best New Jazz Artist” category at the Jazz Music Award in 2022. His latest quartet album “Isla“ (Independent release) was released in February 2023.
In the same year, he won a GRAMMY Award as an arranger on Terri Lyne Carrington's "New Standards Vol 1", and was also named Rising Star Vibraphone Player of the Year in Downbeat's 71st Annual Critics Poll.
Simon is an active touring musician, having performed worldwide at many of the most-respected jazz clubs and festivals, including the Village Vanguard, Blue Note Tokyo & Beijing, Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center NYC, The International Jazz Day Festival in Havana, Cuba & St. Petersburg, Russia.
Besides his work as a performer, Moullier has spent many hours doing community outreach in Cuba, Indonesia, Panama and India and continues to be an active educator across the globe.
