Do you remember the Sears Catalogue? Long before the internet, there were pages of guitars and amps in the Sears catalogue that I used to study as a young child. The prices were always more than I could afford, but on my 10th birthday, I used all my birthday money to buy a guitar for $10 at a department store Jordan Marsh in Boston. I just wanted to play the guitar, no matter what... The next guitar was a Harmony, arched top F-Holed guitar for $25 and I used a black indelible marker to cover up the scratch marks above the pick guard. The third guitar I bought was Japanese made acoustic spruce top and it was $50. Next was an Aria nylon string mahogany topped guitar for $70. The next was a Yamaha 12 string FG 260 for about $260. Now I was 18 and in college and I didn’t buy another guitar for 9 years and 15 guitars later... 5 guitar amps later.....

I grew up near Boston, went to college in Maine, lived in upper Michigan, New York City and settled in New Hampshire in 1985 raising a family between playing music and work. Like all the baby boomers, the pop radio airwaves of the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s deeply influenced my life journey and dreams ~ from Mowtown, Earth Wind & Fire, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Nash, Santana, James Taylor, Blood Sweat & Tears, Carole King, Chicago, Carly Simon, Simon & Garfunkle, Tower of Power, to Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Tomy James & the Shondells, and Johnny Cash - on and on and on.

The last 10 years I’ve been deeply influenced by blues musicians like Koko Taylor, BB King, Buddy Guy, Tab Benoit, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Willie Dixon, Bo Diddley and Dinah Washington - and more! Music choices and music loves are like life’s journey: you experience them and then move on. Country swing, old country, swing tunes of the 30’s, 40’s and big bands always captivated me. I connect with blue grass, jazz and gospel.
