You can judge this 1990 release by its cover. Willi Jones is a lovely and exuberant performer who mixes pop, country, rock, and blues with Southern sass on this fine eponymous debut release. Almost every song is a winner, including "Cages and Walls," "Southern Hospitality," and "Where My City Stood." This album features Waddy Wachtel, former Eagle Bernie Leadon, Warren Bernhardt, Paulinho da Costa, Eric Johnson, Richard Tee, J.D. Souther, and a fun duet with blues legend Willie Dixon. The question is, with all the great talent assembled on this album, along with some great songs, plus a beautiful and talented singer/songwriter, why wasn't there at least one more album? It is a mystery why Willi Jones never got to sing and shake a tambourine on another release.
