Richie Beirach - piano, percussion
Frank Tusa - bass

Badal Roy - tabla

Halfway through his three-year stint with saxophonist Dave Liebman's Lookout Farm crew, bassist Frank Tusa assumed leadership of the group long enough to cut Father Time, a richly idiosyncratic and fiercely singular session that pays little heed to geographic or aesthetic boundaries. Also featuring pianist Richie Beirach and Pakistani percussionist Badal Roy, the music exhibits an uncommon sensitivity to space and texture, at once focused and spontaneously alive. Tusa's original compositions draw on modern and traditional jazz idioms as well as global music sensibilities, and for its complexities the record is both seamless and accessible.~Jason Ankeny
