Oakland-based frontman Aaron Burnham assembled his group of merry minstrels to pick up where THE MAKES NICE left off. Using fresh melodic songwriting to breathe new life into classic Power Pop, '60s British Invasion, and the latest Garage sounds, THE SAUCY JACKS pump out pop gems that'll have you cranking up your stereo till the volume knob rockets off. Like THE BLACK LIPS and THE EXPLODING HEARTS, THE SAUCY JACKS use vintage influences as a springboard to catapult rock 'n' roll further into the new millenium. San Francisco's Chocolate Covered Records (discoverers of TY SEGALL and DREAMDATE) has released their debut long-player YOU MAKE YOUR OWN WORLD - a bold, ambitious record that makes a real statement: The Saucy Jacks and their raved-up brand of power pop are here to stay! To record their debut album, Burnham put together his own studio from scratch in his basement, a modified crawlspace which was used to distill alcohol during prohibition in the 1920's- and now it's used to distill amazing rocknroll records! After laying the basic tracks with bassist Marty Garrett (This is Revenge!) and drummer Charlie Knote (Elephone, Scary Little Friends), Burnham used the studio to stretch his wings as producer and lead guitarist for the first time. The result was a varied and nuanced debut LP, with insta-hits like C'MON JENNY and WHEN THE AXE COMES DOWN, straight ahead rockers like COCK OF THE WALK and GOIN OUT TONIGHT, touches of psych and glam with SOMETHING ON HER MIND and BLOWN LIKE A KISS, as well as the expansive orchestral title track YOU MAKE YOUR OWN WORLD. In 2015, they've enlisted new drummer Mark Ostapiak and keyboardist Julie Chandler to bring an expanded sound to the stage in their electrically-charged live shows.
