Blau Cubarsi - hol(e)y (2023) [Hi-Res]

Blau Cubarsi (1998) started playing the violin at the age of 3, and became a versatile musician studying baroque, electric and persian violin, as well as Scottish fiddle. She went to St. Mary’s Music School, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and CalArts- where she devoted most of her time to world and experimental music, through performance and composition.

On 2019 she began exploring a new facet of herself and started rapping and writing songs about mental health and sexuality, from an always subversive point of view. She then released singles like "Roc Toc de Joc" and “Patim Patam”, and rapped in Festival La Mercè 2020. Blau doesn’t close herself off to any genre nor does she want labels that confine her. Her music is now transitioning to a style that includes violin, polyphonic and harmonic vocals, and synthesizers. She’s on a quest to find meaning through her most authentic and personal voice yet. With a varied musical education and having incorporated such different styles, the fusion between genres doesn't become an artificial construction, but a reflection of who she really is.

She's passionately inspired by all music, especially by traditional world music, classical and electronica, and has just released her first long work, her self-produced diy album: “hol(e)y”.

When composing, she doesn’t mind in which style, instrument or language (if in any)… She sees composition as a tool for emotional alchemy; and music as a way to reach where words cannot.
