Charlie Parker - Carvin' The Bird (1994)

The music is often brilliant on this CD which combines together a variety of altoist Charlie Parker's studio recordings (1946-47 for Dial) and broadcast appearances (from the Royal Roost during 1948-49). This would be a good introduction for beginners (although completists should stay away) but the sound quality is often quite erratic and virtually all of these performances (most of which also feature Miles Davis or Kenny Dorham on trumpet) are available on other more superior (and better sounding) reissues.
