Christmas Songs was recorded at Avatar Studio in New York City on July 7-8, 2004. This release is a holiday album that's uplifting and sentimental without dreariness or noise. Recorded in 2004, the album features pianist Eddie Higgins with bassist Jay Leonhart and drummer Joe Ascione. Higgins' drifting-feather piano playing complements the perfect song list.

Higgins, who died in 2009, was one of those rare jazz pianists who knew exactly where the best chord voicings were hidden on the keyboard. He also knew how to cover the entire ivory landscape without pounding or over-indulging.

"All the chestnuts are here and Higgins roasts each one with jolly grace." - Marc Myers, JazzWax
