Eric Satie is one of the most interesting and original personalities in French musical culture. This man became a kind of indicator of renewal, instantly reacting to new trends and defining new ways of development. In different periods of his work and with varying degrees of intensity, he was the first impressionist, primitivist, urbanist, Dadaist, Cubist, constructivist, neoclassical and minimalist. Clarity and simplicity became the composer's main attitudes and antitheses. His creative destiny, on the contrary, was full of complex metamorphoses and unresolved collisions, many of which are still not understood. Even during his lifetime, he became a legend, because all his actions were primarily aimed at outrage. There were no indifferent people: some saw him as a genius, others as a charlatan. Ballet became a favorite genre in Sati's later work.
This collection presents Sati's original ballets - "Parade"; "The Adventures of Mercury"; "The Eccentric Beauty"; "The performance is canceled" and orchestrations of piano works made by his friends: "In Horse Skin", "Gymnopedia" (orchestrated by Claude Debussy), "Pieces in the shape of a Pear" (orchestrated by Roger Desoremieres), Two preludes and an Epistle (orchestrated by Francis Poulenc), "Son of the Stars", music for the play by Sar Peladan (orchestrated by Roland Manuel), "Five Grimaces to a Midsummer Night's Dream" and the pantomime ballet "Jack in the Box" (orchestrated by Darius Millau).
