Jeffrey McFadden is a Canadian guitarist. He won a silver medal at the Guitar Foundation of America Competition in 1992, as well as a prize in the Great Lakes Guitar Competition in 1993. McFadden was the first graduate of the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Toronto, where his principal teacher was Norbert Kraft. As an Eaton fellow, McFadden finished his dissertation in 2010, and it was adapted as Fretboard Harmony: Common-Practice Harmony on the Guitar, published by Les Productions d’Oz. McFadden received the 2012 City of Hamilton Arts Award for music. He founded the Sauble Beach Guitar Festival, of which he is the artistic director, and he is the head of guitar studies and associate professor at the University of Toronto. As a performer, McFadden has toured Canada, the United States, and Europe, and he has performed at many international music festivals. Since 1996, he has recorded for Naxos.
