Jean-Paul Brodbeck - Song Of Tchaikovsky – None But The Lonely Heart (2007)

In this project Tchaikovskys songs are played in a classical trio formation. In the interpretation by Brodbeck, Gisler and Rohrer the very atmospheric songs that may be counted among the most beautiful exponents of the romantic period develop into an unostentatious lyrical form of expression. The guiding notion was not to enervate the melodies through hyperbole abstraction but to permit their simple beauty to stand on their own and improvise on them in the most different of ways. The three musicians have the expertise to combine the dynamic spectre of classical interpretation with the rhythmic experience of a modern trio.
