Mike Bentley & Cumberland Gap Connection have spent a lot of time honing and perfecting a distinctive sound. Based in eastern Kentucky, Mike Bentley & CGC has made quite a name for itself. From the band's previous project, "Another Song", released in 2013, the single “John Dig A Hole”, debuted on the Bluegrass Today weekly chart at #2, and reached the #1 spot in bluegrass for the week of May 3, 2013. As of May 24, 2013, “John Dig A Hole” remained in the top 20 on the chart for 6 weeks in a row, and was #7 on the Bluegrass Today Monthly chart for April 2013. The gospel song from the same project, “He Keeps Me On The Narrow Way”, was #2 for May 2013 on the Powergrass radio chart. “Move On Down The Line” found itself on the Bluegrass Today Weekly chart, remaining on the chart for 3 consecutive weeks. “Another Song” was featured on the popular Sirius/XM’s Bluegrass Junction Track by Track program in April 2013. CGC’s project "A Whole Lotta Lonesome", which was released in early 2011, was very well received, with songs such as “Travel All Alone” and “Greyhound Bus” finding their way onto multiple music charts. The project received an impressive amount of airplay on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. An earlier album entitled "Grandpa's Swing", also met with much success, as the song "Gravel Springs" was in the Top 10 on the Bluegrass Now Fan's Choice Top 20 charts eight of nine months, earning the No. 1 spot in bluegrass for the months of July and September in 2008. While continuing in the tradition of playing some of the "old standard" songs in bluegrass, Mike Bentley & CGC has become known for the original material they continue to record and perform at their live performances.
