As a new page that should turn, that the fulfillment of an artist who finally expose to the light of his own world, Keys, Strings & Brushes is a celebration of radiant and serene music that lives Emmanuel Borghi forever. After two decades alongside Christian Vander – with Magma, Offering, jazz quartet or trio – pianist tells stories that are now hers. We will not forget their first experience under his name in 1996, when he was surrounded by some comrades, at the time of Collectif Mu. The album Anecdotes lifted the veil on the qualities of a musician who was not only a pianist but also revealed a composer. Melodic promise, which has since watched replicas, not without a touch of impatience. Known for three years and the dreamlike jazzy Slug, the malicious training with rock accents, the first two albums (Slug and Namekuji) are an incentive for Emmanuel Borghi playground where his imaginative art of illumination can deploy freely alongside hers. Now here come another time exposure, the more dangerous it there because the jazz trio is considered, as is well known, as a moment of truth for the musician. It is bare, without any end than its own transcendence. But the confrontation of danger is the fruitful source of which there can arise a personal vision of beauty in a harmonious marriage of the suspension of time and a quest for refinement, where each note is told and full of meaning . And this is the case here! In the cozy complicity that unites Blaise Chevallier (double bass) and Antoine Paganotti (drums) – both rhythmic and discrete presents – Emmanuel Borghi weaves a singular irradiated by the glow of inspiration which is also to understand as a long breath. You may have guessed, this music also light breath! From the first notes of “Do not Give Up” (great replay a song by Peter Gabriel, and also only once on this disc with all the other tracks are original compositions signed Emmanuel Borghi), we are pleased to experience musician at the heart of his emotions, so close to us, ready to remind us that knows where it comes and real guides have staked his way long. Between intimate ballads of romantic lyricism high plane on which the shadow of a benevolent master to play like Bill Evans and successful attempts to thwart traps rhythmic whose evidence is no doubt inspired Monkienne Emmanuel Borghi is needed indeed captivating as the narrator there is a long and, not content with seducing us immediately by melodic clarity about it, sends us – as a healthy infusion in these troubled times – the key an enchanting and timeless. No need to tour, each of us will find his way, driven by the idea that space preserved ahead and it would be really guilty about not stopping there a long time.
