Jefferson Grizzard is a singer/songwriter from Rome, GA who has recently released his first album 'A Crack in the Door' on Backporch Syndicate Records. Jefferson began both playing the guitar and writing at the young age of thirteen. As he grew up, his writing style began to take the mold of the many artists he had grown up listening to. It is easy to hear the stylistic murmurings of such artists as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Donovan, and Kris Kristofferson within Jefferson's songs. Musically 'A Crack in the Door' echoes the tonality of 60's and 70's Rock and Roll and Country music. Growing up in a small town, Jefferson spent a lot of time listening to his father's records- citing acts such as The Beatles and The Band as major influences. By the age of eighteen Jefferson had already written over a hundred songs. After graduating high school he attended St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. While in Austin, Jefferson continued to write and frequented local bars and clubs, observing different acts and managing to get on the stage a few times himself. After his freshman year, Jefferson returned to Georgia, met with producer Ben McRee, and made his way up to Nasvhille. The record was cut at the Sound Emporium in Nashville, and after a few months of tracking at The Temple in Rome, GA the record was complete. Released on March 19th, 2010, 'A Crack in the Door' has been met with much critical acclaim.
