Gallowstreet, the 8 member strong brass band from the windy streets of Amsterdam North are back with their fifth studio effort reflecting on their over a decade long career of bringing the best that instrumental brass music has to offer. With their newest album they claim their righteous throne as stalwarts of the new European wave of brass bands making waves on the continent. Containing 9 tracks of top notch quality brass music from a collective of musicians, friends and renegades that pursue a quest of innovating of what we know instrumental brass music to be.

Gallowstreet is considered a reference point for the (future) sound of European brass bands that mix a multitude of styles into a new sound, whilst simultaneously (re)anchoring the notion of brass bands in its counter cultural and communal roots. Distinct from its American counterpart, whilst paying homage to the legacy. They are tirelessly giving energy and dedication to the scene and their recent tours in Europe have seen them meeting countless of fans, most (but not all of them) eagerly covering their material. The discography that the group has built up throughout the years is considered a staple in the brass band community with many groups from around the world covering original compositions by Gallowstreet.

“A Trip Worth Making” is their fifth studio album, an exploration of delivering songs without words but with maximum impact. A true exercise in anthemic songwriting; “A Trip Worth Making” captures big feelings, with themes that are meant to be sung along. The title reflects on the over a decade long career that the band has enjoyed thus far, the journeys they made, the friendship they forged and the distance traveled. Being a large band for over 10 years requires commitment and trust to the process. “A Trip Worth Making” captures those feelings in a collection of tracks that evoke optimism, a turbo-charged lust for life and sentimentality for that which has passed. A true trip, both in the literal and in the psychedelic sense.
