Irene Torres - TRAVESÍA (2024) [Hi-Res]

Irene Torres, a Toronto-based artist with over a decade of international experience, is known for her powerful vocals and deep emotional expression. Proudly Canadian, from Lima, Peru, she belonged to groups like Santerias, Battle of Santiago, Sol Azul, and Irene Torres & The Sugar Devils, blending styles from Flamenco fusion to Latin house and Blues.

Torres now embarks on a solo venture, introducing "Travesía [voyage]," an album deeply rooted in her Peruvian heritage, out on International Women's Day (March 6), 2024. This unique blend of five original songs, three covers, and three instrumental pieces features Afro-Peruvian rhythms, bolero, lando, marinera, tondero, valsé, and festejo.

Recorded at Pacha Sound with Lima-born Guillermo Subauste, "Travesía" reflects Irene's journey as a Peruvian immigrant in Canada. Contributors include JJ Jerónimo Acuña, Guillermo Subauste, Matias Recharte, Dhany Mario Rivas Rosas, Luisito Orbegoso, Eric St-Laurent, Alexander Brown and Jono Grant.

The album narrates themes of home, identity, and belonging, exploring an immigrant's emotional journey. It depicts Irene's transition from Peru to Canada, moving beyond physical spaces to the essence of moments and memories. "Travesía" is an intimate reflection on the concept of home as a blend of experiences and relationships, inviting listeners to ponder their own sense of belonging amidst displacement.
