The group was formed in 1971 in London, UK. Alan Williams - guitar, vocals Tony Thorpe - guitar Bill Hurd - keyboards Mick Clarke - bass John Richardson - drums The Rubettes became famous in 1974 when their song ''Sugar Baby Love'' topped the UK charts and entered the US charts in the Top 40.
