Vocalist Alex Siegers was first given a taste of Australian jazz through her late teacher, the legendary Kerrie Biddell. Siegers later found out about the Australian Jazz Real Book project, which has been preserving important and iconic tunes written by local jazz composers.

However, hunting down early Australian recordings proved to be a difficult task, so Siegers took it upon herself to bring some of these classic tracks into the present day with an album of Aussie standards. She describes it as a postcard to the world from Australia, and on it, she's brought her sound to songs by names like Bryce Rohde, Bob Sedergreen, Brian Brown and many others.

Joining Siegers on this session is her band of Sydneysiders, with Aaron Blakey on piano, Jacob Graham on bass and Andrew Dickeson on the drums. The project's entitled From Here, and it's our Feature Album all week!
