Breezers is the musical identity and songwriting vehicle of the Los Angeles-based, multidisciplinary artist and songwriter Evan apRoberts. His songs are influenced by the vastness and romanticism of life in the West and much like the walls of apRoberts's music and art studio in northeast LA, they are brimming with desolate views into a world of gritty and sublime landscapes. Breezers has been apRoberts's musical nom de plume since 2016 but he has been active in the LA music scene since the mid 90s. His first solo record, Under the Ghost, released in 2010, was a hit in LA's underground country/folk scene but apRoberts is more known for the work he has done as a hired gun, supporting different artists on guitar and/or bass and vocals. His career as a touring sideman began in the mid 2000s and apRoberts has worked for some impressive acts along the way including Michael Nau, Pink Mountaintops, Joel Jerome, Little Wings, Kath Bloom, Tall Tales and the Silver Lining, Kings of Convenience, Elisa Randazzo and Port O'Brien, a band M Ward called his "favorite new band" in a 2008 interview with Pitchfork. In addition to tending his many creative fires, which include a robust visual art practice, co-editing and publishing a magazine, playing in multiple bands and surfing his brains out as often as possible, apRoberts has been recording a new Breezers album called Hideaway featuring three of his long-time collaborators: Michael Nau, Melissa Castellano and Graeme Gibson (Gibson also mixed and shared engineering/production duties with apRoberts on the new record. The two met playing in Nau's band).
