Please meet Vulcanizadas from Biscay (Spain), a new soul band featuring Nerea Arrieta Ibáñez (keys, vocals), Jone Ibarretxe de la Cal (bass, vocals), Virginia Fernández Reviriego (drums, vocals), Izaskun Simón Zardoya (sax) and Elsa García Lizundia (sax). They recently released their self-titled debut album, consisting of eleven bluesy soul songs that move between crying and laughing and between searching and finding. The female harmony vocals are compelling, the poetic Spanish lyrics are relatable, the atmosphere is cinematic, the percussion and saxophones add some funk. This record is warm and colorful, an attractive introduction.
