Tom McDermott - Live in Paris (2006)

Listening to Tom McDermott play the piano makes me feel like a dog looking at a human--I see a black and white world, he sees colors. The black and white 88 become a swirl of chromatic, melodic and rhythmic shades, all of which seem like Tom's home town, so at ease is he with them. Tom is in fine, rambunctious form, the left hand jackhammer-propulsive, the right hand playful, the combined effect orchestral in its scale but always pianistic in its pleasures. --Harry Shearer
