Marco Martins Quintet - Low Profile (2024) Hi-Res

Low Profile is the result of an investigation into the musical creation possibilities of electroacoustic bass, which Martins has been developing in recent years. Consisting of a set of themes that reveal several facets of Martins as a bassist and composer, this work is based on the transposition of his fascination with the jazz tradition and the sound of the double bass, to an electroacoustic bass, punctuated by elements of modern jazz.

To flesh out this project, Martins chose a team of Algarve jazz musicians, including Sara Badalo on vocals, Leon Baldesberger on trumpet, with the young and virtuoso João Campos Palma on accordion and Maximiliano Llanos on drums.

This album had the support of Loulé City Council and is presented as part of PERIFÉRICO – Mercado de Música Independente, in a special edition of MdC Jazz Club.
