Yuki Rodrigues - Search for Eden (2024)

Yuki is a pianist and composer and her path has been marked by constant change.

Born in Japan, at the age of 15 Yuki came without her family to Portugal, where she settled. At the age of 30, the development of a neuromuscular lesion in her right hand forced her to almost 18 years of radical withdrawal from the music scene and into a process of profound introspection. The courage to embrace pain and the faith in that unexpected change is a gift from the Universe allowed her to discover a new cycle in her relationship with music, exploring the path of composing along with performing.

2023 will be a significant year, marked by Yuki’s return to the musical scene with the project Search for Eden, very much dedicated its author’s Japanese origins and evoking the arrival of the Portuguese in Japan, to the island of Tanegashima, an authentic revolution in the destiny of both countries. The fusion of two such different sensibilities from the meeting of two peoples originated the Namban culture, Search for Eden’s inheritage: the beauty and vitality born from the connection between West and East, of such different expressions, that should be explored to the limit.

The album Search for Eden gathers original themes by Yuki, played by her, who personifies the fusion between Portugal and Japan, and this will be the beginning of the project Search for Eden’s journey.
