Often, though, the instrument fights back, with feedback, string rattle, and string buzz. A prolific composer, Orcutt’s unconventional take on blues, free jazz, and experimental music has featured on some 100 albums (yes, really) since the early 1990s. He is not your common or garden-variety guitarist.
