We are delighted to present to you the project by venezuelan guitarist, composer, and arranger GAüD, titled Looking for Home. This album represents an inspiring fusion of various musical influences, ranging from Debussy's music to ancient Celtic folk songs, and encompassing the contemporary sounds of Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper, while maintaining a profound connection to jazz and modern music.
A portion of the compositions on this album took shape during the 2020 lockdown. After careful consideration, we decided to bring these pieces to life with an incredible team of musicians. We had the privilege of collaborating with Philippe Soirat on drums, Speranza Galez on vocals, Yannick Benoit on tenor saxophone, and Nicolas Fleury on double bass.
Recording sessions took place at the Midilive studio, providing an ideal environment to capture the essence of each piece. The recording at Midilive studio was done live, adding an authentic dimension to the music.
Looking for Home presents itself as a musical journey that explores the diverse facets of influences and experiences. Each composition tells a unique story, contributing to the creation of a cohesive and captivating whole. Furthermore, Looking for Home partially narrates the experience of an individual who left their country in search of a new home. We are honored to share a preview of this album with you, reflecting the soul and creativity of this project.
