"Zinder" stands for exhilaration, vibrancy, exuberance, and being in the moment. A word that perfectly evokes the sound and the character of the trumpet, according to Suzan Veneman. Zinder is the name of her new ensemble, which is fronted by no less than four trumpets. It is also the title of her new album. She wrote the compositions for this album as if they were cinematic scenes, full of adventure and colourful harmony.
Trumpet player Suzan Veneman has quickly established herself with her soulful and energetic sound. After finishing her studies in the United States she has been fulfilling her role not only as a talented musician, but also as a promising composer and arranger. The Zinder ensemble was developed in response to an invitation from renowned trumpet player and composer Dave Douglas to write music for his Festival of New Trumpet Music in 2021.
