Baba Yaga - Odiseja (2026)

The Vienna-based band Baba Yaga releases its second album, “Odiseja”, on the label The New on October 15, 2026, and presents it with a release concert at WUK in Vienna. Following their debut “Grenzenlos”, the record continues the band’s artistic development: conceived as a musical journey, it brings different traditions together in a shared, borderless sonic language.

Musically, the album combines Klezmer, Balkan music, Gypsy jazz and contemporary world music, pairing original compositions with selected traditional songs. Vocals appear in seven languages: Bosnian-Serbo-Croatian, Yiddish, Romani, Greek, French, Italian and Spanish, which shifts the colors and the narrative perspectives. The early singles “Yeráki”, “Shukar Jakha” and “Vieni da Me” give a clear sense of its stylistic breadth. The arrangements move between driving, almost cinematic moments and calmer, melancholic passages, with virtuosity and the joy of playing equally in the foreground.

The album was recorded and mixed by Florian Koch at Tonherd Studios in Vienna, and mastered by Martin Scheer. The visuals were created with video artists Liliya Timirzyanova, Jonathan Meiri and Jay Choma, with the clips filmed in Slovenia, Italy, Austria and elsewhere. The result is a multifaceted album with a strong narrative focus.
