Jeff Slate is known in the New York music scene as a world-class frontman and songwriter. His band's monthly residency in the heart of Chelsea attracts sold-out venues and famous guests. But it has been a long and winding road to this coveted spot in New York's cultural firmament.
Slate grew up in the US East Coast post-punk scene in the mid-1980s, playing CBGBs and other legendary clubs of the time as the lead singer, guitarist and main composer of the Mindless Thinkers, named by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols at a drunken aftershow party. By the early 90s, Slate was touring as a solo artist, making a name for himself after collaborating with Pete Townshend of The Who, touring with Sheryl Crow and forming the Mod-influenced band The Badge. Since then, Slate's solo releases have featured famous friends and high-profile studio musicians, and his songs have appeared in commercials, movies and television, including the hit show Gossip Girl. Over the past 13 years, Slate has toured the US and shared the stage with Roger McGuinn, Jeff Tweedy, Willie Nile and Margo Price and Sheryl Crow. He also headlined the Switchyard Festival at the legendary Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa and the Tom Petty Weekend in the late artist's hometown of Gainesville, Florida. He was even an all-star counselor at the famous Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp!
Jeff's fourth solo album, "The Last Day of Summer," which features Dave Stewart, Duff McKagan, Earl Slick and members of Paul Weller's band and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
