Bobby Militello - Easy To Love (1994)

Bobby Militello, on both alto and flute, has an opportunity to stretch out during this CD, playing bebop, '60s-type funky jazz, and R&B-ish ballads; he even takes an enthusiastic vocal on "I Thought About You." Organist Bobby Jones actually dominates the ensembles, contributing strong solos, heated accompaniment of Militello, and four of the ten selections. With drummer Bob Leatherbarrow providing driving rhythms and trumpeter Jeff Jarvis helping out on a few numbers, the set has the feel of a classic hard bop organ combo, inspiring Bobby Militello to play at his best. © Scott Yanow
