Everything You Feel Is Real, the latest long player from Los Angeles-based avant-garde duo Pink Sky, probes the depths of the human psyche, exploring ideas of change, divergence, and resilience.

A collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and producer irreplica, aka Christopher Morse, Everything You Feel Is Real finds Pink Sky continuing to evolve their everchanging sound, a sound that began as DAWless dance music, followed by shifting to ambient, then to electronica, and finally to synth-based post-punk.

Until Everything You Feel Is Real, Pink Sky – Ryan and Angelica Hay – has always written, recorded, produced, and mixed their music, steering clear of any outside influences. Thus, working with irreplica marks a seminal development for Pink Sky.

The hymn-like and eerie “Your Light” conjures up hints of Gregorian chant blended with dark electronica, giving rise to a ghostly trance-like melody. With its slightly discordant intro, “Faith” features the spine-chilling vocals of Angelica, followed by a Phantom of The Opera-like bridge, injecting the tune with feverish, cathartic surfaces.

A personal favourite because of its evocative, platinum topline juxtaposed against crunching percussion and chugging rhythm, “Medicine” pulsates and shimmers with interweaving layers of sound, metallic undertones, and dreamy, ethereal vocals.

Draped in dreamy, wickedly fascinating styles and moods, Everything You Feel Is Real is a significant work of art.
