The American composer, musician and producer Mike Murray is active in smooth jazz and chill-out. During summer camps in his youth he discovered his passion for the piano, which would later lead to a lifelong passion.
However, he first played in a local funk band, where he evolved into a drummer. Mike was influenced by George Duke, Stanley Clarke, FourPlay, Santana, Hiroshima, Paul Hardcastle, Alex Bugnon, Earth Wind & Fire, Sly Stone, Mandrill etc. In 2005 he returned to the piano through a legacy from his father, and 2 years later his album 'Skyline' was released.
In May this year he released the single 'Supernova', a precursor to this new EP, with a space-inspired NuJazz/Electronic fusion, nice and chilled for maximum speed. There are 5 tracks on this EP in Mike's hybrid, instrumental music form of smooth jazz & chill-out. It's your passport to the stars.
He opens with the up-tempo song 'First Contact', a theme we know all too well in science fiction, followed by the danceable 'Galactic Boogie'. The title track is the next in line, a pleasant track that explores the boundaries of the universe. Think of Captain Kirk who said in the opening credits of Star Trek: TOS: “space the final frontier”.
'Supernova' was recently released as the second single, and the first single 'Voyager' closes. Here you will hear, among other things, historical words from the late Kennedy.
An EP that will certainly suit science fiction fans, but is also fun as a smooth jazz/chill-out hybrid.
