Pianist Dave Newton is recognized as one of the most gifted contributors to the current British jazz scene and he is a past poll winner of the British Jazz Awards and the Dankworth award for Outstanding Solo Performer of the year. He has worked with artists such as Scott Hamilton, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Warren Vache, Bud Shank, Conte Candoli, Art Farmer, Alan Barnes, Martin Taylor, Carol Kidd, Buddy DeFranco and Don Weller.

The drummerless trio on this new recording is made up of the backing musicians from vocalist Stacey Kent's band and it was recorded in San Francisco during Stacey Kent's residency at the Plush Room club. Newton never rushes his lines and allows abundant space to express himself. His keyboard agility dazzles on his artful interpretations of a selection of jazz standards together with his own compositions and he gels perfectly with his empathetic sidemen.
