Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album Rumors topped the American, British, Australian, Canadian and other charts. It has been certified 19x platinum in the US, 13x platinum in Australia, 11x platinum in the UK and 5x platinum in Germany. The total circulation of the album worldwide exceeded 40 million copies. One of the singles from Rumors, the song "Dreams", topped the US chart, three others, "Go Your Own Way", "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun", entered the Top 10 in the US.

The group Fleetwood Mac was formed in Great Britain in 1967, the debut disc of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was released in 1968, at which time the group played blues, which was then popular in their homeland. The group's instrumental single "Albatross" topped the British charts in 1969. By the mid-70s, the band had completely changed its musical style; by this time, only two members of the original lineup remained in Fleetwood Mac. The 1975 album of the same name reached number one in the US and was certified five times platinum. The band's latest studio album, Say You Will, was released in 2003; it reached number 3 in the US and number 6 in the UK, and was certified gold in both countries.
