Azur Blue Band, combining instrumental world music with elements of jazz, pop, ambient and Indian music, is a group of guitarist-composer Chaba Gabor Veres and Akos Kertesz (percussionist, keyboardist, arranger), created with the participation of internationally recognized guest artists (Nikola Parov, Edina Sirtes).
The name of the band, formed in 2008, was inspired by Luc Besson's film "Nagy kékség" and the 1971 recording (Azure Blue) by Hungarian guitarist Gabor Szabo, who became world famous. Chaba Gabor Veress, who wrote compositions as a composer, performed in several ensembles of jazz-rock, Latin American and world music (Latin Combo, Világok Hangja, Imago Mundi), but in addition to "Western" musical genres, he also studied the stylistic features of Indian music in South India, at the Dharani school.
On the Blue Diver disc, these musical influences sound pure, creating a unified world of style and sound. The orchestration and musical arrangement complement the other main character of the band, Akosh Kertesz, who is well known in jazz and world music circles. Akos plays in countless bands as a drummer and percussionist (Fabula Rasa, Fianna, Matthew Mitchell Group), and is also an excellent pianist, arranger and composer, so Azur Blue Band offers a really suitable field for applying his versatile skills.
An important role in shaping the musical world of the album was played by the permanent partner-musician of the creators, bassist Gabor Feldes (Fabula Rasa, Imago Mundi), who also participated in the work as a sound engineer, as well as wonderful guest musicians - Nikola Parov (kaval), Istvan Yesenski (vocals), Edin "Mokus" Sirtes (violin), Balash Chera (saxophone), Tibor Motyan (tabla) and Zoltan Ciryak (French horn). Zsolt Dulay (Gramy Studio) is engaged in complex mixing and mastering for deeper listening to music.
Blue Diver was released in March 2010 on the Gramy Records label, which also publishes Jabe records and can rightfully count on the interest of discerning jazz and world music fans who appreciate special music for the spirit and soul.
