Jazz to Bach's Music is a project created and implemented by pianist and composer Francesco Capella. The album, inspired by the musical works of Johann Sebastian Bach, consists of various compositions for a jazz septet. This is not the first time Bach's music has been performed in a jazz style. One has only to think of Jacques Lucier or The Modern Jazz Quartet. The novelty lies in the fact that there was no intention to make a "literal translation", but rather that Bach's work inspired the creation of completely new music, which is a kind of jazz in 9 parts. Two traditions of composition converge here: A baroque song with variations and a jazz style of recreation and improvisation. Just as Parker created new melodies based on old jazz standards, musicians take the basic musical grain from each of Bach's musical movements to allow a new sound to grow. Modern jazz with a touch of hard bop.
