Trondheim Jazz Orchestra & Espen Berg - Maetrix (2024) [Hi-Res]

I am thrilled to announce that this album is FINALLY scheduled for release – on August 30th. In 2016, I was awarded a scholarship called JazZtipendiatet and got the opportunity to write for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. I hand-picked this unique line-up consisting of my favorite Scandinavian musicians and wrote the music specifically to each and everyone, knowing that they would add their personal rendition to it and make the parts come alive.

It wasn’t until May 2021 that we finally got the opportunity to record in Rainbow Studio in Oslo. Now three years later, the album has been beautifully mixed by Kyrre Laastad in Øra Studio, mastered by Karl Klaseie in Øra Mastering, and is ready for wide release on vinyl and digital platforms on Odin Records. The cover is designed by Nick Alexander, and consists of six circular figures I made to illustrate the rhythmical concepts in each and every song on the album. Most of the score is actually on the front cover. And the rest is in the 198 page long score, which I hope to make a good-looking and functional print of in the near future.
