Fats Domino - The Fabulous Mr D Plus a Lot of Dominos (2021)

Rock & roll pioneer Fats Domino is the most popular exponent of the classic New Orleans sound, and one of the greatest hit-makers in American music history. He shaped the early rock & roll and R&B scenes with his trademark right-hand piano trills, pumping Fats Waller left hand, and his awesome backbeat style of comping. His cheerful, lolling boogie-woogie style and easygoing, warm vocals anchored a long series of smash hits. This release presents two of Domino’s finest LPs: The Fabulous “Mr. D” (1958) and A Lot of Dominos! (1960), originally released by the Imperial label during his most inspired years. Both albums have been remastered and packaged together in this very special collector’s edition, which also includes 6 bonus tracks from the same period. These great recordings – most of them co-written, produced and arranged by the legendary Dave Bartholomew – feature a virtual who's who of fabulous musicians from the Crescent City scene, including Lee Allen, Allen Toussaint, Frank Fields, Roy Montrell and Cornelius Coleman, among others.
