'Seven Stops to Heaven' is the third album by Robin Jones' Latin Underground, formerly known as The Robin Jones Latin Jazz Sextet. The object of the band has always been to fuse Latin, jazz and funk, using original compositions and Latin and jazz standards.
Robin Jones is a master percussionist of world renown who has performed and recorded with just about everyone in the music business, including Johnny Griffin, Stan Getz, Jay McShann, John Barry, Matt Bianco, Billy Idol, Sade, Elton John, M-People, Eartha Kitt and Moby.
The album includes four originals, all by sax virtuoso Nick Walker, and five of Jones' favourite Latin jazz standards, including Dizzy Gillespie's "Night in Tunisia", Ronnie Cuber's "Passion Fruit" and "Mambo Inn" by Mario Bauza, Bobby Woodlen, and Grace Sampson. 'Seven Stops to Heaven' was recorded by a brilliant engineer, Nick Cecil.
