Addison Frei - Coin Flip (2024) [Hi-Res]

Our paths can alter at a moment's notice, thrust between chance outcomes of “heads” or “tails”. When facing a coin the beholder’s eye sees one face, left to trust in the presence of the shadowy, invisible side. Only through accepting this limitation of perspective can two sides be conjured whole.

Inspiration often comes in navigating dualities: some songs originate from the plains, others the metropolis, from the pen of composers both here now and long gone. Some from prose: with a six word poem Langston Hughes conveyed “Money and art are far apart” while Salman Rushdie’s epic novel Midnight’s Children spanned generations and vast lands to teach us of our condition. This collection of songs hopes to channel seemingly disparate streams into a common wellspring.
