Mugham is the classical music of Azerbaijan, which is characterized by its beauty, power of expression and vitality. Despite its monodic and modal character, each musician has freedom of interpretation, which gives mugham a special depth. The mugham combines diversity and unity: compositions and improvisations, free and measured rhythms, different harmonies and colors. Akakhan Abdullayev is recognized as one of the greatest singers of Azerbaijan and was able to reach the essence of Azerbaijani singing. He is characterized by sober and generous interpretation and can do without spectacular vocal techniques, fully immersed in musical expression. He presents great texts through his perfectly mastered technique.
