DJ Marfox - Revolução 2005-2008 (2015)

One of Portugal's leading kuduro figures, DJ Marfox has been tapped up by the good folks over at Boomkat Editions for a retrospective compilation championing the producer's formative years. The Principe affiliate sees nine of his production made between 2005 - 2008 make the grade, with its opener "Drift Furioso" and "Funk em Kuduro" finding a previous release on Principe Discos 2006 DJs Do Guetto Vol.1 compilation (which was reissued in 2013). There's an almost uncanny Portuguese combination of "Blue Monday" and Notorious BIG vocals in "Un Bes Bai" while classic kuduro grooves are slowed down and stripped in "Sem Fronteiras". There's the minimal, syncopated beats of "Macongos Graves" while "Aiue Remix" is a bona fide club workout.
