Cellist Moon Tae-guk will release a full album of Bach's Solo Cello Suites on October 7. His profound interpretation breathes new life into this timeless masterpiece.

Moon Tae-guk gained international attention by winning the 2011 André Navarra International Cello Competition and the 2014 Pablo Casals International Cello Competition, and he placed fourth in the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition. His debut album Song of the Cello, released under Warner Classics, was dedicated to Pablo Casals and received praise from Gramophone for his interpretation of Bach. In this new album, Moon goes beyond the first suite he performed in his debut album to present all six suites, showcasing a deeper musical exploration.

In the recording process, Moon used gut hybrid strings and a Baroque bow for a more mature expression of Bach. He employed the scordatura tuning technique for the fifth suite and played the piccolo cello for the sixth, offering a unique interpretation.

Moon Tae-guk shared, 'Bach's Solo Cello Suites are challenging for cellists. Through this album, I wanted to convey the world of Bach with a modern sensibility.'
