Ounine Pawoap, Tribe - Yêby Yêby (2024) [Hi-Res]

Ounine Pawoap, the chief of the Pombei Tribe in Kanaky New Caledonia, prefers to express himself in his own language, Cémuhi. However, he collaborates with the leader of A7JK, who sings in French to reach a wider audience. Their collaboration on the track "Cotton Fields" was a hit in Kanak country, leading to further performances together. With the release of a new album alongside Marcus Gad & Tribe and Tamal on October 11, 2024, Ounine Pawoap aims to create a breath of fresh air and showcase unity amidst the current historical context in New Caledonia. The songs in the album are sung in both French and Cémuhi, with the sound texture recorded in the Pombei tribe's home hut. This album serves not only as a testimony of solidarity but also as a reminder of the importance of collaboration and living together.
