Philip Weyand has remained true to his floral line:
His debut album MYOSOTIS (Engl. ‘Forget-me-not’, 2022) is followed by KOSMEE - an ornamental flower whose name is borrowed from the Greek word ‘cosmos’. The five musicians stroll through it with ease and play music that seems weightless and yet is firmly connected to the inner song structures.

Philip Weyand's pieces are small miniatures that together form a unity: a ‘bouquet of melodies’ that combines various rhythmic concepts and complex harmonies with free improvisation. The basic melancholic sound deals with feelings such as disappointment, hurt, guilt and atonement. The single release CLYTIA, for example, makes the metamorphosis of the eponymous figure from Greek mythology audible: Apollo, the driver of the chariot of the sun, does not return her love. Full of pain, Clytia's body slowly transforms from a woman to a sunflower.

Musical impressions and emotions from Philip Weyand's year of study in Salvador da Bahia in Brazil also flow into the album and make KOSMEE a deeply personal project. This is particularly evident in the piece MORERÉ: traditional Brazilian Partido Alto fused with elements of contemporary jazz. The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Hannah Pfeifer.

KOSMEE creates a unique sound from a wide variety of influences, allowing Philip Weyand's musical cosmos to continue to grow.
