Nothing’s impossible for the RP Quartet as everything lies in the art of breathtaking song choices delivering a very original repertoire. As joyful and playful as it is demanding , it’s impossible to compare to the typical Gypsy Jazz Scene.
R for Ribot and P for Pennes – short for the two leaders of the RP Quartet – they form a remarkable Gypsy Jazz formation made possible by the fundamental addition of Remi Oswald on rhythm guitar and Damien Varaillon on double bass.
Together for the past ten years, they maintain a strong homogenous and harmonious band ethic that transpires a common musical understanding. As such, bringing a seemingly straightforward and coherent approach that almost surpasses the technical demands of this musical genre.
Their fifth album, Birth of the Cow offers us a fascinating voyage through Jazz history.
