Mangane - Zoom Zemmatt (2024) [Hi-Res]

Mangane, a musician, plans to release his first record at the age of 60 when others are already thinking of retirement. His music, called Zoom Zemmatt, can be characterized as “bushwhacker” with Afro-jazz elements that reflects his life experiences and passion for music. He was born in Thiès, a city in Senegal, to a family of farmers. Surrounded by many cultural influences, he found himself being exposed to music from a young age. He was impressed by legendary Afro-Cuban music style groups such as Rail Band, Baobab, Number One and Star Band. One can catch their influence in Mangana's music, as well as the traditional Dieuf Dieul and Royal Band he saw in Thiès. His unusual musical career may not have been a foregone conclusion, but Mangane was an exception who decided to pursue music and make it his vocation, despite the fact that it was not a profession in his community. Now he is ready to share his music with the world.
