Karl Blau - Vultures of Love (Album) (2024) [Hi-Res]

Singer-songwriter Karl Blau has recorded music for nearly three decades, working with many indie labels (including K and Bella Union). Vultures of Love is his 13th solo album. It begins in light and ends in obscurity. The first half of the record contains a handful of luminous lo-fi hits, reminiscent of the brighter side of Smog and the Silver Jews. The music increasingly drifts into darkness and discordant fuzz, into jaded self-derision – with elements of Beck’s Midnite Vultures seeping into Blau’s Vultures of Love.

Blau’s songs are like messages in bottles; sometimes they miraculously float to the surface, other times they sink to the bottom of the sea. But what really matters is that they should exist – whether listeners hear them or not.
