Here to There, the debut trio album by Ben Goldberg (clarinet), Todd Sickafoose (acoustic bass), and Scott Amendola (drums, electronics), is set to release on October 25, 2024, via Secret Hatch Records. This album builds on their long-standing friendship and deep musical connection, showcasing eleven original compositions that creatively use bridge segments from Thelonious Monk’s pieces as springboards for new jazz explorations. Tracks like In Walked and Self Evident echo Monk’s influence, while Amendola’s Lions Heart series highlights the trio’s instinctive interplay. Recorded at Oregon's Gung-Ho Studio, Here to There melds structure with improvisation, encapsulating the trio's decades of shared history in a blend of freshness and jazz tradition.
